Sometimes little sisters...

...are a big pain in the butt! this is an email she sent me. Help us out, if you can:
Dawn,

I thought maybe you could help me answer this question. I want to know the
exact lyrics, singer, or title of a particular 80's maybe early 90's song.
I want it as my ringtone, that's why. No one I've asked can give me an
answer.

So... it's hard to describe b/c I can only sing the beat, and once I sing
the beat, you'd know exactly what I meant. It's a very catchy and famous
tune. Someone told me it's by Suzanne Vega? But they were not sure. The
lyrics are like.... "I was walking... something something..."
"I was walking down the sidewalk... or like
"I was standing on the corner... "

You probably have no idea what I mean. I'd have to hum it for you. But I
feel like you would know because it was in your era :)"

In my era?! I am only 30 little miss! Know what I remember from the 80's? School. The Beebe's (pronounced beebee's; our second home!). School. St. John (ie- her father, lol!)

Isn't she a little shit? And no, I don't know what song it is, so if there are any of you who know what the hell she is talking about, lemme know ok? Please think hard, we wouldn't want Laura Beth to not have the ring tone she desires, lol! Thank you!

Will this help? It says it contains all the lyrics to Suzanne Vega albums.

Otherwise, I don't have a clue.

Can't help you there! The song man might but if it wasn't soft rock he won't either. I will have him check after his coffee and newspaper! LOL

I want the Law & Order ringtone for my phone but haven't decided yet!

Um...why doesn't she just put that cell phone of hers to use, call you up and hum it to you?

I checked out granny's link (as since I'm not knowledgable about Vega, even though I'm more that generation, and don't have this at my mind's fingertips)

http://www.suzannevega.com/lyrics/solitude.htm

first song: Tom's Diner...there's an audio clip...maybe that's it?

I would suggest Tom's Diner also (I hated that song) I'm 38 and fully grounded in the '80's and still don't have a clue what she is talking about.

Usually cellphone ringtones reflect you or your personality. She should know the lyrics at least - just in case it says something about her that is totally off.

Like my "Sanford & Son" theme tone. Doesn't mean anything to me but sure gets laughs whenever it goes off.

I'm wondering what Fred C is wondering. Although it does sound like that wouldn't help you much, either. Funny.

Hey, do you know anything about those people out there, doing that thing? You know, a thousand points of light?

Thanks for finding that song for me. I want a ringtone that is recognizable to all, instead of "My Humps" or "Hips Don't Lie," past ringtones of mine. Everyone I've hummed the song to recognized the tune immediately. Therefore, everyone will recognize it when it goes off. Also, I want to be able to leave my ring on while I'm at my boyfriend's house. Wouldn't want "My Humps" to go off while I'm watching TV with his parents. So... a new ringtone is in order. Now I just have to find it as a ringtone.

And as for not calling her and asking yesterday, I was running out the door to a concert and did not have time to call. :)

And Dawn, I'm not THAT youthful, I am going to be 23 tomorrow and have a bachelor's and almost a master's under my belt. I am getting old!!

Other Ann, I'm glad you could track it down. I'm the wrong generation for Suzanne Vega so I wouldn't have spotted it from the titles.

I did try to google from that snatch of lyrics but gave up.

Now that I have the title, I'll check out the song. Who knows; I might just like it.

Boy do I feel dumb. The first song up was Luka which I've know for years. I'd forgotten the singer.

And of course I know the tune to Tom's Diner. It's one of those things that eats into your brain and stays there whether you want it to or not. One of the cable channels changed the words and was using it to promote its programming.

I found a whole bunch of her stuff on Rhapsody. I'll listen to it when the house quiets down.

LAURA- MY BIRTHDAY IS NOT THE 28TH!!! have u been talking to chantz, lol?
"banging out kids" rotflmao! do what nate did, have twins! u have to come see my babies!

Dawn - Sorry. 29th? I said 28th because I was debating between 28th and 29th and I just picked one and acted confident in hopes that I was right. So we are both bad sisters.

I debated typing "doot doot do do.." but I didn't think you'd get it. Haha.
